In 2007, I graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a BA in Psychology. After graduating and moving home to New Bern, I began my five year journey at Methodist Home for Children in residential care, independent living care for at-risk youth, outreach services, and foster care supervision. I have always had a true passion for education and helping students succeed so I returned to school to pursue my master’s degree. In 2012, I took a leap of faith and began my journey as a school counselor at West Craven High School (Go Eagles!) while completing my master’s degree. In 2013, I graduated from East Carolina University with a MS in Counselor Education and remained at WCHS for the next four years. In July 2017, I transitioned to Craven Early College as the school counselor and advisor for 5th-year seniors. My goal as a school counselor is to help students achieve optimal personal growth, acquire positive social skills and values, set appropriate career goals and realize full academic potential to become productive members of the world community. At home, I am truly blessed with a wonderful husband, one-year old daughter and dog (our boxer Chance). Our daughter keeps our lives exciting with her sweet and sassy personality and she keeps our hearts full of joy. We love camping, going to the beach, family time, cookouts with friends, and the many gifts of life! |
In 2003, I graduated Magna Cum Laude and with Honors from Meredith College with a BA in English and licensure to teach Secondary English. While at Meredith, I was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow. After graduation, I began teaching English at my alma mater, West Craven High School. I spent a little over three years in the classroom before working as a copy editor/proofreader at a local advertising agency. When the agency moved to Raleigh, I chose to return to public education and worked as a high school testing coordinator for six years - until CCS eliminated full-time test coordinator positions. Here at Craven Early College, I am the College Readiness Partnership Coordinator. I serve as the school's college liaison, advisor for 4th-year seniors, and test coordinator. I am happy to have become a part of the team here at CEC and am enjoying the work that I get to do here. My goal is to help students reach their potential and graduate ready for the next steps in their lives - and ready to make a positive contribution to the world! Outside of school, my husband and our son make up my world. Our son is a curious five-year-old who is teaching us to see things through new eyes. I love spending as much time as possible with my family. I also enjoy all types of music (preferably live), reading, going to the beach, and college sports (go Tar Heels!). Contact Mrs. Edwards |
